OU delays pay raises
(WOUB) - Ohio University President Roderick McDavis says some employees are not going to get a salary increase when they expect it in the upcoming fiscal year.

Instead, the raises and some spending initiatives are going to be delayed.

They're part of a "contingency budget strategy" recommended by a planning group and "unanimously endorsed" by the university's executive staff and academic leadership.

McDavis says the actions are driven by a desire to avoid department budget cuts...and fears that the state is going to cut the budget for higher education.

Other factors -- investment income is now expected to be down in the new fiscal year...and "confirmed admissions" are looking uncertain.
