Frances Strickland visits Vinton Family and Children First Council
(WOUB) - If any county in Ohio needs an organization that provides services for the well-being of children, it's Vinton.

Vinton County has the highest percentage of children in poverty.

It also has one of the state's highest unemployment rates, so families need help, too.

The Family and Children First Council in Vinton County was established to streamline and coordinate a variety of state services, including health services.

But the coordinator of the county program - Laura Harms - says its hard to get the job done when sufficient funding is not available.

Harms got a chance yesterday to discuss the problem with Ohio First Lady Frances Strickland.

Strickland went to McArthur as part of her effort to visit Family and Children First Councils in all 88 counties.

Strickland was also scheduled to make a stop in Logan to talk with Hocking County's council.
