Athens County considers other dog euthanasia methods
(2008-04-09)
(WOUB) - Athens County is considering new methods of euthanasia at its dog shelter.

The County Commissioners met yesterday with dog rescue worker Danielle Stanley to discuss different ways of putting dogs down.

Currently the shelter uses a gas chamber, but Stanley argues the most humane way is through lethal injection.

Commissioner Lenny Eliason says he wants to go with the technique that works best for the dog shelter staff.

Other commissioners say their biggest worry is the emotional impact lethal injection may have on workers at the Athens shelter.

A final decision on the process has yet to be made.
