OU-C Dean approves of state's higher ed plan
(2008-04-04)
(WOUB) - Officials at Ohio University-Chillicothe like what they see coming out of Columbus regarding the future of higher education in Ohio.

A new 10 year plan would significantly increase student enrollment by making college more accessible and affordable.

O.U. Chillicothe Dean Richard Beebe says the state's regional campuses are to play a pivotal role in accomplishing the goals of the plan.

"You'll be able to get a bachelors degree within 30 miles of where you live so that means that each of the regional campuses will be strongly pressured to add more bachelors degrees, and they will be pressured not only be the market, but also by the chancellor and the board of regents," Beebe says.

If the plan is adopted and implemented, college enrollment in Ohio would go up by 230,000 students by 2017.
