Morgan County ordered to clean up mass dog grave
(WOUB) - The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency says county officials who didn't properly dispose of euthanized dogs found in a shallow grave must remove the remains
and bring them to a licensed landfill.

A state EPA inspector found exposed dog remains behind the Morgan County dog pound.

Ohio EPA spokeswoman Linda Oros said a citation was issued to the county's commissioners for violating state open dumping regulations.

No fines were issued, but the agency is requiring that a cleanup be completed within 30 days.

Animal rights advocates brought the mass grave to light on Sunday, prompting Morgan County commissioners to place part-time dog warden Jeff Driggs on unpaid leave.

Oros said it was unclear how large the site was and how many dogs were buried there.
