Jackson County Murder Update
(2008-04-01)
(WOUB) - The Jackson County Sheriff's Department says it's zeroing in on a suspect in the death of 72-year old Carol Evans.
The list of suspects includes Evans husband Dave, who was supposed to be in South Carolina, where the family has a home, on the night of the murder.
But investigators say Mr. Evans never left.
Jackson County Sheriff John Shasteen says the department has teamed up with investigators in South Carolina and Virginia to solve the case.
"We've had our investigators go to South Carolina and Virginia to follow up leads. We're now waiting for forensic evidence to come back from our BCI lab in London."
Carol Evans was a teacher and principal for 30 years.
Diane Lewis, a fellow teacher, says Evans family, friends and colleagues are still in disbelief.
"You just start locking your doors again and just pray they get this person who's responsible."
So far, No one has been taken into custody.
