Lake Snowden Open
(2008-04-01)
(WOUB) - Campers and adventurers, grab your sleeping bags and hiking shoes because after almost two years, Lake Snowden is officially open for business again.

Reservations are already filling up for the 135 nightly reservation campsites and 75 seasonal reservation sites.

Hocking College acquired Lake Snowden in 1998, and almost two years ago they cut back usage and prohibited camping as a cost-saving measure.

After much criticism, the college reached an agreement with the Natural Resource Conservation Service.

The Dean of the School of Natural Resources at Hocking College Larry Coon says they just want Lake Snowden back to the beautiful getaway it used to be.

Aside from the 200 campsites, Lake Snowden has two sleeper cabins, seven tent sites and two shelter houses that can be rented for 100 dollars a day.

Park employees say they plan to have the beach ready by May 31.
