Permit prices for Wayne National Forest go up
(2008-03-25)
(WOUB) - Permits to use facilities and trails in the Wayne National Forest will increase starting Monday.

Seasonal trail permits will cost $45, up from the old price of $25.

Daily passes will go up from $5 to $12.

The two-day trail pass has been replaced by a 3-day pass.

Wayne officials say the increased fee revenue will be used for maintenance and improvement in the forest and can be used with other funds like grants for construction and maintenance of trails and other projects.

The Forest says it surveyed customers about price increase before the decision, and found that 80 percent of those polled said a moderate increase would be acceptable.
