Zanesville City Council decides on fire lieutenants, possible police cruisers
(WOUB) - Zanesville is going to hire nine fire lieutenants.

Zanesville City Council voted unanimously last night to approve the new positions.

Council also voted to approve the first reading of an ordinance to purchase 12 new police cruisers.

The city plans to issue bonds to pay for the cruisers.

In other business, Zanesville Mayor Howard Zwelling is hoping the State Street Bridge will be open by mid-May.

Zwelling says the contractors are preparing to pour concrete.

Construction of the State Street Bridge was originally delayed because of cracks found in the bridge.
