State finds problems in Perry County audit
Cheri Russo, WOUB News Managing Editor
(WOUB) - A 2006 state audit of Perry County points to problems with the County's former Auditor.

Larry Householder served as auditor in 2005 and 2006, after serving as Ohio Speaker of the House for four years.

The audit states nearly 11-thousand dollars in unauthorized payments were made to four county employees - nearly nine-thousand of which were authorized by Householder.

Householder approved payments to two employees for unused vacation time, which state auditors say is against Perry County policy.

Householder says County Commissioners approved the payments because the employees were key to the county's daily operations and couldn't take a lot of vacation time.

The employees have agreed to pay back the money.
