Panic Alarm Working
(WOUB) - City Hall workers in Newark can once again push a "panic button" in case of an emergency and feel confident they'll be summoning police.

The mayor in the central Ohio city says the building's internal alarm system is back online following a malfunction he blamed on a computer server problem.

Mayor Bob Diebold says repairs were made Monday, after several weeks in which at least some of the buttons on desks and in other key areas of City Hall didn't work.

Diebold says the police department will now test the system every week.

He says the buttons failed while the city was planning to evaluate the system as part of a security review.

It was prompted by a deadly shooting rampage this month at a Missouri city council meeting.
