AEP puts up $100K for Ohioans' electric bills
(2008-02-18)
(WOUB) - American Electric Power is putting up $100,000 to help low-income Ohioans pay their electric bills.

The money is going to customers who qualify for aid from HEAP -- the Home Energy Assistance Program.

Tom Calhoun is an assistant division director for the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development, or COAD.

The Athens non-profit organization is in charge of distributing the money to HEAP agencies around Ohio.

COAD hopes to have the funds distributed by March 31.
