Honor Code Signed
(2008-02-16)
(WOUB) - The long investigation into plagiarism at Ohio University's Russ College of Engineering has reached an important point.

The school signed a document Friday that it hopes will put plagiarism in the past.

Members of the faculty and students gathered at Ohio University's Stocker Center to commemorate the signing of the Honor Code.

Both a student and faculty honor council drafted the code that is expected to bring integrity into the students work.

The college has come under fire for multiple plagiarism allegations that have come to light in the past couple of years.

Chair of the Academic Honor Council Valerie Young says one of the challenges is new students come in every year and it is important to remind students to be truthful in all the work that they do.

Students also feel the new code will help faculty remind students of the importance of the work they do for their degrees.

The Faculty signed a hard copy of the pledge, while students from the school were asked to sign a banner commemorating their acceptance of the honor code.
