EPA issues air permit for Meigs County power plant
(WOUB) - The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has just issued a final air permit for the American Municipal Power Plant in Meigs County.

The permit is for a proposed coal-fired facility at Letart Falls.

The project has a $2.5 billion price tag, and would generate 1,000 megawatts.

The EPA says the permit requires AMP-Ohio to use the best available control technology to limit emissions of carbon
monoxide, particulate matter, nitrogen oxide and a variety of other pollutants.

The agency adds, the mercury emission limit is more stringent than what is required for any other power plant in Ohio.
