Flood Advisory for Hocking, Muskingum and Ohio Rivers

(WOUB) - The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the Hocking River at Athens, the Muskingum River at McConnelsville, and the Ohio River at Willow Island Lock.

The river between Athens and Coolville has already begun to flood.

Route 669 above Malta is also flooded.

A river flood advisory means river flows are elevated and low impact flooding of poor drainage areas or low lying areas and backwater problems are occurring or are imminent.

The advisory will last until further notice for all three rivers.

Flood stage for the Hocking River is 20 feet.

As of 11 a.m. this morning it was at 15.2 feet.

The Muskingum River was at 8.3 feet this morning - Flood stage is 11 feet.
