Identity theft on the rise, targets senior citizens
(WOUB) - Identity theft is quickly becoming one of the most common types of fraud in Ohio.

Victims can spend an enormous amount of time cleaning up the mess the thieves have made of their good name and credit record.

Many of these thieves target senior citizens.

Athens County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Colleen Flanagan-Williams says one way seniors can stop this is to be on the look-out when strangers come to their home.

Keep and eye on these people, says Flanagan-Williams, and take steps to secure your personal information.

If you do become a victim of identity theft, you can get help by using the PASSPORT program run by the Ohio Attorney General's Office.
