Package scare
(2008-01-11)
(WOUB) - Calm has returned to the eastern Ohio
city of Cambridge after a scare caused by a package left on a Greyhound bus.

Authorities say a passenger thought the box looked suspicious and alerted the driver when the bus coming from Pittsburgh stopped in Cambridge Friday morning.

Cambridge Assistant Fire Chief Jim Jackson says the bus was evacuated, along with five nearby businesses, including a
McDonald's.

The Columbus fire department bomb squad was summoned, and Jackson says they used a blast of water to open the package.

He says it contained electronic equipment and clothing, but he deferred to police to provide further details.

Cambridge police officials were not immediately available for comment.

No one was hurt.
