Hocking holds meeting for plans to re-open Snowden
(2008-01-10)
(WOUB) - It seems Lake Snowden remains a popular spot for camping and fishing.

75 people turned out last night for a meeting about how to re-open the Athens County park.

Athens County Commissioner Lenny Eliason was there and he says most people like Hocking College's plan to take down the "closed" sign.

Hocking - which owns Lake Snowden - said it had safety concerns and budget problems and last year shut things down.

But state and local groups and agencies protested and that led to development of a plan that would let people back in by April 1.

Eliason says Hocking was asked to form a citizens group that could advise the college on park matters.

And Eliason says the county commissioners would like for the college to sign an operation and maintenance agreement.
