Former girlfriend of convicted cop killer sentenced
(2008-01-02)
(WOUB) - A former girlfriend of a man serving a
life sentence for murdering a police officer was sentenced to a
year in prison Wednesday for attempting to destroy letters she
wrote her boyfriend while he was awaiting trial.

Thirty-three-year-old Tina Rapp was given a one-year sentence on
each of two charges of attempting to tamper with evidence. She had
pleaded guilty in October.

A Ross County judge ordered the sentences to be served
concurrently.

The letters to 37-year-old John Parsons detailed plans to get
him a gun and hide him near Rapp's Frankfort-area home. Parsons
escaped from jail and eluded police for 83 days before being
recaptured near Chillicothe in October 2006.

Two months later, he entered a guilty plea to avoid trial and a
possible death sentence.
