OU health program expands with federal funds
(WOUB) - One Ohio University health program will now be able to expand in Southeastern Ohio thanks to federal funds.

Ohio University will receive more than $190,000 for the Appalachian Health Care Access Project.

O-U's Director of Clinical and Community Health Programs Kathy Trace says the funds will help Southeastern Ohio where it needs it the most.

The funding will provide breast and cervical screenings and education to women, as well as blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings.

But, Trace says the greatest outcome is the program's ability to expand in Gallia, Lawrence and Ross Counties.

Trace says there are a few budget and planning details to work out.

But she hopes to have the program up and running after March.
