OU plans airport projects
(2007-12-24)
(WOUB) - Ohio University Airport is planning a series of projects that its director says will make it safer and more accessible.

Ken Carley says the future plans include an updated runway lighting system and a new building for snow equipment.

He says the new lights will make the airport safer, and provide real world experience for the students training there.

The new runway system will add lights to the airport approach so pilots will be able to see it more easily from far away.

Carley says these lights also will allow pilots to come in at a lower altitude than now.

And, Carley says the snow equipment building will make the airport more accessible in bad weather.

Ohio University is getting at least $784,000 for improvements in the just-approved federal budget, and Carley says they could get more later.
