State gives money to southern Ohio

(WOUB) - Five volunteer fire departments in southern Ohio are getting money from the state to upgrade equipment.

The funding comes from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and is heading to departments in Perry, Hocking and Pickaway Counties.

In Perry County, the Thorn Township fire department is getting $4,500 while the New Lexington fire department will receive $3,500.

The Laurelville fire department in Hocking County and Pickaway Township fire department both will get $4,500.

Saltcreek-Tarlton Fire Department in Pickaway County will also receive protective equipment.

Ninety-first district representative Dan Dodd announced the O-D-N-R grants which are earmarked for communities with less than 10,000 people.
