Commission narrows Nelsonville police chief applications
(2007-12-14)
(WOUB) - The Nelsonville Civil Service Commission screened applications for the city's vacant police chief position Thursday night.

Commission Chair Kelsey Lanning says the group reduced the number of eligible applicants from 10 to 9.

The remaining candidates can take the police chief examination on Jan. 17.

The search for a new police chief in Nelsonville went back to square one in August after the city had chosen Richard Morman, who decided not to take the position.

Michael Hunter, former commander of the Athens post of the State Highway Patrol, has been acting police chief in Nelsonville since the end of October, and will keep the position until a permanent appointment is made.
