Nonprofit treasurer faces theft charges
(WOUB) - A former treasurer for the Moonville Rail Trail Association has been indicted for stealing from the non-profit organization.

Crystal Ratliff faces fifth-degree felony charges for spending an amount greater than 500-dollars on herself.

And although Ratliff paid the money back, Vinton County authorities say that doesn't excuse her from being charged with the crime.

The Moonville Rail Trail is a path for hikers, bikers and equestrians.

The organization's president - Neil Shaw -says he doesn't hold Ratliff's alleged actions against her and says he thinks she's a good person.

But he adds that it's not his money and so prosecuting her was not his call to make.

Ratliff's arraignment is scheduled for next Wednesday.
