Ohio deer-gun season kills down 9 percent
(2007-12-04)
(WOUB) - Ohio deer hunters took more than 103,000 deer during the week long deer-gun season.
The Division of Wildlife says it's a nine percent drop from last year but is blaming it on bad weather on the first and last days of the brief season.
With more than 4,200 deer harvested, Tascarawas County led the state. Guernsey, Harrison, Athens and Licking Counties rounded out the top five.
The Division of Wildlife says hunters have killed 167,965 deer so far this year.
There's another weekend for gun hunting on the 15th and 16th of December.
And there's nine weeks of archery hunting.
Muzzle-loader season will be held Dec. 27-30.
