Mid-East gets school construction grant
(2007-11-30)
(WOUB) - The Mid-East Career and Technology Centers in Muskingum County is getting over 20 million dollars in state money for school construction.
According to a news release, the Ohio School Facilities Commission has 4.1 billion dollars from a recent tobacco bond sale to use in the next three fiscal years.
The commission decided Thursday on thirteen Ohio school districts who would have first access to the money, and Mid-East is one of them.
The district will use the 20 million dollars as part of a renovation, addition and demolition project on its campuses.
It will need to match that with 9.7 million dollars of its own.
Ohio School Facilities Commission executive director Michael Shoemaker says that the commission expects to fund projects in at least 140 school districts in the next three years from the bond sale.
