More new deer hunters this year
(2007-11-27)
(WOUB) - The Ohio Division of Wildlife says more first-time hunters are going after a deer this year.

They're using an apprentice license...which allows them to hunt without taking a 10-hour hunter education course.

This year, apprentice license sales have increased nearly 45 percent.

Division of Wildlife spokeswoman Susan Vance says the program is designed to make it easier to get out in the field for the first time...and that's particularly appealing to families.

Apprentice hunter must be accompanied by a licensed hunter.
