OU prof studies cyberbullying
(2007-11-26)
(WOUB) - An Ohio University professor who's studied teenage internet harassment says it's happening more and more in places where parents might not think to look.

Christine Bhat says cyberbullying is taking place every day to thousands of children.

Bhat is a professor of counselor education at O-U...where she surveyed freshmen students about their experiences in high school.

She discovered that a large percentage of them had encountered intimidation through email, instant messaging and online blogs.

"Schools are struggling with the issue of whether cyberbullying is their problem" says Bhat, because incidents can be difficult to detect and may occur off school property.
