(2007-11-23)
(WOUB) - For eager holiday shoppers, "Black Friday" dawned a little earlier this morning.

Thousands of sleepy shoppers have descended on stores throughout the state.

The day after Thanksgiving traditionally kicks off the holiday season for retailers with promotions and discounts aimed at luring shoppers to start their Christmas shopping early.

Stores across Ohio threw open their doors earlier this year. JC Penny and Kohl's opened at 4 a.m. and Best Buy, Meijer and Sears opened at 5 a.m.

In central Ohio, all stores at The Prime Outlets in Jeffersonville opened at midnight this morning and will say open
until 10 p.m.

Some are offering incentives to early birds. Wal-Marts and Sams Club stores were planning to offer free breakfast when its doors opened at 5 a.m.
