Athens County drug case
(WOUB) - Athens County authorities say they've stopped the sale of prescription drugs at a home located near an elementary school.

According to a news release from the sheriff's department, informants bought perscription medication, like oxycodone and vicodin, from the Chauncey home several times over a four month period.

The home is located on Ellis Avenue near Chauncey Elementary School.

Sheriff Vern Castle says children were at the home while the drugs were being sold.

He also says a 5 year old, a 10 year old and a 16-year old were at the house when officers executed the search warrant.

42 year old Joseph Rutter has been charged with trafficking in drugs.

Investigators say cash and drug paraphenalia were taken from the home.

Castle says some of the paraphenalia was found in a closet of a room that appeared to belong to a child.
