Services Changed?
(2007-11-18)
(WOUB) - A rule proposed by Governor Strickland's
administration would limit some specialized services for disabled
children who are eligible for Medicaid payments.

This has caused an outcry from parents of children with autism,
mental retardation and developmental delays.

State officials say the rule is an attempt to head off a potential federal crackdown on how the state uses Medicaid money for children's disability services.

Parents of disabled children say the services, which include early intervention for kids who may be nonverbal and aggressive, help their children make great strides.

State officials say the care costs up to $92 an hour.
