Ironton downtown revitalization plan
(2007-11-16)
(WOUB) - The city of Ironton is moving forward with its downtown revitalization plan.

Ralph Kline with Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action says local nonprofit "Ironton in Bloom" is currently holding fundraisers.

The group is working to improve planters and hanging baskets around the city to make it more visually appealing.

Kline says the plan focuses on capital improvements, maintenance, building facades and marketing.

Kline says the city is waiting on $400,000 in state funding to start the next capital improvement phase of the plan.

Niki Jaworski of the Ohio Department of Development says the office has not made a final decision on Ironton's application.

She says that Ironton will have the money on December 13th if the department decides to award it.
