Point Pleasant student death possible medical condition
(WOUB) - Authorities in Point Pleasant, West Virginia believe a medical condition may have killed a teenage boy whose body was found outside the Mason County Courthouse Tuesday.

Police Chief Ernie Watterson identified the boy as 17-year old Matthew Shaffer.

Watterson says a toxicology report came back clear and there was no evidence of foul play.

The body has been sent to the state medical examiner's office and are still waiting on the cause of death.

Shaffer attended Point Pleasant High School.

School Principal William Cottrill says that students are shocked and saddened by the unexpected death of their classmate.

Cottrill says the school has brought in extra counselors to help the students through the grieving process.
