Glacial Relic protected in Jackson County
(2007-11-13)
(WOUB) - A relic of Ohio's glacial past is now protected for future generations.

The Nature Conservancy bought 119 acres of Jackson County land containing Baker Swamp...which is located near Oak Hill.

With help from the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service, the non-profit group was able to purchase the land at a cost of more than $300,000.

This nearly triples the size of the protected area.

The Nature Conservancy says Baker Swamp contains rare plant and animal life.
