New filtration system in Little Hocking Water Association
(2007-11-02)
(WOUB) - The Little Hocking Water Association announced today (Friday) the start up of a new filtration system to remove C-8.

The C-8 - a likely carcinogen - is from the DuPont plant across the Ohio River from the Association's well field.

Water district general manager Bob Griffin says the start up comes six years after very small amounts of C-8 were first discovered in the water.

DuPont designed and constructed the filtration system at no cost to the district...but claims the C-8 is not harmful to people.

Just the same, for nearly two years the company has been providing bottled water at no cost for customers who requested.

The Little Hocking Water Association serves 12,000 people in Athens and Washington counties.
