Fairfield County Escape
(WOUB) - A burglary suspect in Fairfield County was able to escape from a Sheriff's cruiser by simply opening the window.

Sheriff Dave Phalen says Charles Horn was placed in the back of a crusier while the deputy was waiting for help to arrest other suspects and got out by opening the window.

He says the cruiser was new and was part of a fleet of vehicles the department got a couple of weeks ago.

Normally, the window opener is deactivated in law enforcement vehicles, but Phalen says this apparently was not done to this crusier.

Phalen says the other Ford Crown Victorias that were part of the new fleet are now being checked to make sure the windows are deactivated.

Horn was caught a short time later with the help of a highway patrol helicopter.
