Autopsy on skeletal remains
(2007-10-30)
(WOUB) - The Franklin County Coroner's office needs the help of an anthropologist to identify skeletal remains found in Perry County over the weekend.

Perry County Sheriff William Barker says an autopsy was supposed to be done Tuesday, but it was determined that an anthropologist was needed.

A resident searching for a place to hunt on Sunday came across the skull and other bones in a wooded area in Hopewell Township.

Barker says they have not been able to determine the age, gender or ethnic background of the remains yet.

He also says they do not know if foul play was involved in this death - but it did appear as if the body was dumped at the Perry County location.

Barker says they did not find a weapon at the scene and there was no sign of a struggle.

There is no one missing in Perry County currently that could be linked to this case.

However, Barker says authorities from Muskingum and Licking Counties have contacted his office because they have people missing and are wondering if the cases are connected.
