Money for Richland Ave. study approved
(WOUB) - Athens City Council has approved spending $200,000 to study the Richland Avenue Corridor.

Council president Bill Bias read a letter at a council meeting Monday from the Associate Vice President of Facilities at Ohio University.

The letter urged the University and the City of Athens to join forces in studying Richland Avenue from the 682 intersection to the intersections at both President and Union streets.

The approved study will examine both pedestrian and vehicular traffic flow, determining ways to make the road safer.

Council member Carol Patterson says this is the last of the major corridors that demands attention.

Athens residents and Ohio University students and employees will discuss the project with both city officials and engineers tonight at the Dairy Barn.
