Belmont County weapons confiscated
(WOUB) - Authorities in Belmont County are calling it a major weapons find.
Bridgeport police officers confiscated a loaded AK-47 assault rifle, a 12-gauge shot gun, and a 9 mm handgun early yesterday morning.

Police chief Steven Studenc (stoo-DENSE) says officers found the weapons after responding to a call from a neighbor who told police that people where threatening a someone.

"The guns where thrown into the bushes. Officers then took all the subjects down at gun point. The guns were found. Upon talking to people, neither one admitted to threats but they were merely showing each other the guns," Studenc says.

Police have charged 30 yearold Sherman Griffin of Martins Ferry with having weapons under disability.

Police say Griffin was under the influence of alcohol and gave a breathlizer test more than twice the legal limit to operate a car when police apprehended him.

Thirty-eight year old Fredrick Jones of Bridgeport was also charged with aggravated menacing and persistent disorderly conduct.
