State supervisor docked 1 week of vacation over data theft
(WOUB) - The massive state data theft case is going to mean a week of lost vacation for a supervisor with the state's new payroll and accounting system.

Investigators say Jerry Miller didn't follow orders and left sensitive information on a computer backup device, instead of moving the data to a secure directory.

The device contained the Social Security numbers of thousands of Ohioans and other delicate data when it was stolen out of a state intern's car in June.

Miller says he thought the drive was protected. He says he doesn't like being docked the vacation time, but he realizes others have been hurt much more by the incident.

The intern was fired.
