Zanesville-area officer released
(2007-10-09)
Sean Beck, Chad Mills, Trevor Fusner
(WOUB) - One Zanesville-area police officer accused of trying to steal cocaine from a drug dealer and sell it will be released from jail tomorrow morning - while another will stay locked up.

Bond hearings were held today for Genesis Healthcare System Police Officer Chad Mills and Zanesville Police Officer Sean Beck.

The men are charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

Mills is being released on his own recognizance - and has to wear an electronic monitoring device.

He was ordered to have no contract with anyone on the Zanesville Police Department, the Muskingum County Sheriff's Department or the Genesis Healthcare System Police force.

Beck will be held without bond until trial. Investigators say he was the mastermind behind the scheme. Both men waived their right to a preliminary hearing. A third officer allegedly involved in the plot is scheduled to have his hearing on Thursday.
