Athens man recieves Jenco service award
(WOUB) - An Athens County man has received a service award acknowledging his contributions not only locally but on an international level.

The Father Lawrence Martin Jenco Foundation celebrated it's sixth anniversary with awards this past weekend, and Reverend Frank Hare of Amesville received an award for inspired community service.

Hare began nearly forty years ago with pastoral responsibilities at New England, Amesville, Doanville and Alexander congregations.

Much of his ministry has included work with summer youth camps and vacation area worship services.

However, his ministry has taken him abroad as well, including a mission trip to Nicaragua to upgrade the living standards in an effort to help low income families.

Hare currently serves as the mayor of Amesville and the treasurer of the Athens County Food Pantry.

The Jenco Foundation - based in Athens - was established by former Middle East hostage Terry Anderson to honor a friend and fellow hostage.
