Professor's son charged with murder
(2007-09-26)
(WOUB) - Athens County Prosecutor Dave Warren says he does not want an Ohio University student released from jail after having been charged with murdering his father.

Thirty-two-year-old graduate student Jonathan Bebb is accused of killing his father, retired professor Phillip Bebb, at his Athens home Monday night.

Athens police say the 66-year-old Bebb was stabbed 40 times, twice in the eye.

Warren says Bebb became the main suspect after giving conflicting stories during an interview with police and signs that pointed to the fact the Bebb had been in a struggle.

Judge William Grim set Bebb's bond at $250,000.

Warren says Bebb is a danger to society and had asked for a $5 million bond.

While the court case is pending, Ohio University president Roderick McDavis has banned Bebb from campus and placed him under an interim suspension until his case is resolved by the university judiciaries.
