Trimble gets award
(WOUB) - Trimble Elementary is getting a special award for its work with children with disabilities.

The Walter-Horn Partnering for Progress award is for a program that was created two years ago.

"We are very, very excited and honored to receive this award. It was kind of funny. I went to a workshop yesterday and people talked about us and until then I didn't really know what the award means but it is presented by the State of Ohio and we're very proud of it."

Trimble Elementary Principal Mary Mitchell says that an intervention teacher provides students with extra help.

This is done after a team of teachers does an assessment to determine their needs.

The award is from the Ohio Department of Education's Office for Exceptional Children.
