New arts festival in Perry County
(WOUB) -
A new festival in Perry County will feature spinners, weavers and knitters.

The fiber arts take center stage at the Appalachia Heritage Fest in New Lexington on September 29th.

The spotlight also will shine on goats, llamas and sheep -- so-called fiber animals.

Kimberly Christman is the organizer of the Festival...which is sponsored by the Appalachia Fiber Guild of Ohio.

"Those fiber animals will also be there and they will show how they take the fiber from the animal and put it into a spinning yarn and have a finished product with it."

"We do have workshops for the kids. Flour pounding. We also have some wet felting of wool, making jewelry with that and there'll be some other things for kids there."

Christman was a guest on our W-O-U-B t-v "Newswatch" program last night.
