Pickets march at O.U.
(WOUB) - Unhappy about layoffs over the summer, union workers picketed at Ohio University yesterday.

They claim student health and safety are jeopardized by the cut of 30 housekeeping, custodial and maintenance positions.

Union local president Dave Logan says university officials have not been honest about the reason for the cuts.

We called the university for comment but no one responded.

However, when the layoffs were announced, an O-U official said rising costs had caused budget problems.

According to Logan, the university is down to one service person per building.

He says officials have approached him about sitting down and working something out but so far, no workers have been recalled.
