Fatal bus accident
(WOUB) - NEW CONCORD, Ohio (AP) - The State Highway Patrol says a Greyhound passenger was struck by a car and killed today after stepping off a disabled bus along Interstate 70 in eastern Ohio.

Patrol Lieutenant Tony Bradshaw says another bus rider was taken
to a hospital with injuries that did not appear life-threatening.

The accident occurred around 3:45 a.m. after the bus headed to Columbus experienced mechanical trouble and pulled over alongside the onramp from State Route 83 in New Concord.

Greyhound says passengers were warned to stay on board but some got off to smoke.

Bradshaw says the two wandered onto the ramp and were struck by a car driven by 27-year-old Eddie McElfresh of Cumberland.

The accident remains under investigation.
