ATV crackdown
(2007-08-27)
(WOUB) - You've heard of D.U.I checkpoints, well something similar is going on with ATV's in Scioto County.

Over the weekend, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Scioto County Sheriff's office, and the Highway Patrol joined forcees to combat reckless and law-violating ATV riders.

According to a news release, ATV riders often often destroy vegetation and wildlife on state forest trails and they also drive recklessly on roadways and through private property.

Over the weekend officers discussed ATV law and safety with more than one-hundred riders.

Lieutenant Mike Crispen called the project a success and said there may be other similar operations in the future.
