Ohio solider killed
(2007-08-27)
(WOUB) - The military is reporting that two Army
soldiers with Ohio ties were killed during non-combat convoy
operations when a Humvee rolled over in Afghanistan.

Iowa National Guard officials say Army Sergeant Daniel E.
Miller, of Rossford, Ohio, and Sergeant Scott Carney, of Ankeny,
Iowa, died when the Humvee they were riding in flipped yesterday
near Herat, Afghanistan.

The 43-year-old Miller was assigned to the First Infantry
Division, in Fort Riley, Kansas. The 37-year-old Carney graduated
from Sheridan High School in Thornville, Ohio. He was assigned to
the National Guard 34th Infantry Division in Boone, Iowa.

Carney's unit arrived in Afghanistan in May, and provided
advanced combat training to the Afghan National Army and Afghan
police.
