Meigs County woman teaches homeschooling
(2007-08-23)
(WOUB) - Interested in homeschooling your kids?

If so, be prepared to do some home work of your own.

Debra Cochran of Meigs County is the founder of Homeschool Friends Connections and a homeschool mother herself.

She says parents will have to meet the same academic criteria as public schools.

That includes submitting standardized test scores -- or a summary of students' academic abilities -- to the Ohio department of Education.

Cochran says to begin homeschooling, families must fill out an intent to homeschool form and send it to the local school district office...

Homeschool critics say kids miss out on socialization when they stay at home.

But Cochran says there are ways to compensate for that.

If you want more information, it's available at the Department of Education's website.
